Amalgam of Inversion
The installation was commissioned by Nassauischer Kunstverein in Wiesbaden for the group exhibition “Russian Roulette”.
The mirror installation in the relation to the theme of the exhibition investigates the compressed duration of the time between past, present and future. Our daily life itself is a game of a “Russian Roulette”, which can be described as a paradox motion: viewing a past- “visible” zone of our experience, moving ahead with our “blind” side — zone of the unknown.
Something incredible is taking place: a moment of a bifurcation and an inversion of a motion vector is happens. Whenever we go a step ahead into the future it is a step into the unknown and invisible zone.
The installation is aiming to render this phenomenon in a temporality of our perception by the organised visual field.
Thanks to the concave-convex structure of the installation the observer is never placed in frontal position to the present. He is not able to get an image of “now-self reflection”. The perception is organised by a kaleidoscopic overlay of the surroundings and mirrored reflections of other visitors.
Mirrored reflections and dynamic images are cross-linked, superimposing presence into past, future into presence, which is, according to Bergson, how we experience the time.
